Robert Turner, age 84, of 2276-120th Street, Story City, (northeast Boone County), died May 20, 2012 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Friday, May 25, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mackey United Methodist Church in Mackey with Rev. Margaret Aiseayew officiating. Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery.

Robert was born on a farm in Harrison Township in Boone County on December 9, 1927, the son of James and Edna (Knight) Turner.

On July 15, 1950, he married Mary Hayes in Boone. Robert farmed all his life in northeast Boone County in Harrison Township. In earlier years, he also had dairy cows and raised cattle and hogs. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and helping his wife Mary with the canning. The last few years, Robert enjoyed watching the stock market.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Lois Heins, Wilma Miskell, and an infant sister. Robert is survived by his wife Mary of rural Boone; two sons: Daniel and wife Carmen of Gilbert and Alan of rural Boone; two daughters: Donna Wood and husband Frank of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Diane Dearden of rural Boone; a son-in-law Paul Dearden of Boone; a brother James Turner and wife Beverly of rural Boone; a sister Mary Jacobson and husband Alan of Stuart, Florida; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with three arriving in the near future.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone on Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
