Mildred H. Beach
April 9, 1929 - April 27, 2011Mildred H. Beach, 82 of Colo passed away on April 27, 2011 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames with her loving family by her side. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Mildred was born on April 9, 1929 to Hugh and Anna (Miller) Craig in Hampton, Iowa. She attended school in Ames. She married Roscoe Beach on July 15, 1949 and to this union four children were born. The family resided in the Ames area. After raising her children, she earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology at Iowa State University. Mildred worked as a social worker for RSVP and then as a bookkeeper for Henderson's Appliances in Nevada. She retired in 2000. Mildred had a great love for her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She was an avid reader with an inquisitive mind and was active in politics for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Doreen Craig of Rural Toledo, IA, her son Duncan Beach of Colo, IA, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, and many friends.
Her parents, Hugh and Anna (Miller) Craig; two daughters, Robin Hong and Lorina Corbin; and her sister Marlene Stemler preceded her in death.
A memorial fund has been established in her name and any contributions may be directed to the family.
Chet Ryan Mortuary, in Nevada, has been entrusted with the care of Mildred and her family.
