Dorothy Rhoads
February 21, 1920 - September 17, 2011

Dorothy Rhoads, 91 of Nevada, formerly of Phoenix AZ and Collins, died on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins with Pastor David Burling officiating.
Dorothy was born on February 21, 1920, one of six children, in Missouri to William and Emma (Thomas) Rhoads. She was a 1938 graduate of Collins High School. Dorothy served in the Coast Guard during WWII. She lived in Kansas City MO before moving to Phoenix in 1954 to work for the phone company. Dorothy resided in Arizona for 50 years and moved back to Iowa in 2009. She was always a private person.

Dorothy is survived by a brother, Joseph Rhoads of Collins; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rhoads of Hubbard.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Doris (Doud) Willey , 3 brothers Karl, Chuck and Harold Rhoads.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name for the Cancer Society.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Dorothy and her family.
