Patricia Lou Van Sickle
June 9, 1927 - November 25, 2011

Patricia Lou Van Sickle, 84, reunited with her beloved husband Joe on his birthday, Friday, November 25, 2011 to be joined together again in their eternal life. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the Central Presbyterian Church, 932 5th Street, Nevada with Rev. Brad Braley officiating. Burial will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Patty was born on June 9, 1927 in Nevada to Willis E. and Clara L. (Collup) Sylvester. She was a 1945 graduate of Nevada High School. On September 15, 1945, Patty was united in marriage to Joseph Owen Van Sickle at the Chapel of Christ Church in Waukegan, IL. Their marriage was blessed with their daughter Mary Sue (Tom) Haller of Ames and a son Bill (Jean) Van Sickle of Nevada; six grandchildren John Haller, Heather Roberts, Holly Richardson, Joseph Haller, Bre Van Sickle and Peter Van Sickle; seven great grandchildren - 3 girls and 4 boys.

She enjoyed her life as a farmer's wife and also was employed at W.L. Tipton's. Patty and Joe farmed just outside of Nevada until they retired and moved to town. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and served on many church committees. Patty was a former member of P.E.O. and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her faith, family, friends and volunteering were the most important parts of her life. She enjoyed cooking, walking, gardening, sewing, and reading to school children.
Patty is now united with her parents and her husband Joe. She is also survived by her brother Max (Janet) Sylvester of Webster City.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Patty.

Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Patty and her family.
