Helena Mae Chitty
March 21, 1928 - February 27, 2012

Peg Chitty, 83 of Nevada died on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A gathering/open house will be held at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 in Peg's home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. again on Saturday, March 10 in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery Columbarium with Pastor David R. Burling officiating.

H. M. "Peg" Chitty was born on March 21, 1928 in Corning to Marion C. and Nellie M. (Walton) Barton. In 1967, she married Kenneth A. Chitty. Peg was employed at Bourns in Ames for over 25 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Nevada. Peg enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing cribbage and cards.

Peg is survived by a son, Marion Peel of Colo; a daughter Suzanne Nicholl of Nevada; a sister, Dorthea Riley; 3 brothers, Wayne Barton, Jim Barton, and Jerry Barton, all of Corning; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth on December 24, 1980, a daughter Peggy Ann Wells on April 21, 1998, son-in-law, Jerry Wells in 1996, a granddaughter Crystal, 2 great-grandchildren Austin Wells and Joel Nicholl, an infant sister Rose Barton, a sister Frances Montegna, a brother-in-law Paul Montegna, a brother Walter Barton, and a daughter-in-law Linda Peel.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Peg and her family.
