Max Heintz

July 3, 1929 - January 20, 2012
Nevada, Iowa

Max E. Heintz, 82, of Nevada died Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Max was born July 3, 1929 at Nevada, Iowa, the son of Harold and Elsie (Presnall) Heintz. He graduated from Shipley High School in 1947 and then served in the Navy for four years. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Garrett on February 13, 1963 in Bethany, Missouri. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Max farmed in the Nevada area all of his life. He loved farming, desserts and coffee, talking, and visiting with friends. Max cared very deeply for his family and grandkids.

Max is survived by his wife: Dorothy, of Nevada; two sons: Steven (Marsha) Berry of Nevada, Melvin (Linda) Heintz of Ankeny; a daughter: Sherri (James) Smith of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; three brothers: Dean Heintz, Larry Heintz, Don Heintz, all of Nevada; and two sisters: Marjorie Baum of Des Moines, and Nancy Vincent of Story City.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Jack; two brothers: Wayne Heintz, Marion Heintz; and four sisters: infant twins Joann and Barbara Jean; Betty Heintz and Mary Heggen.

The Heintz family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Guffy and his staff and to the nurses on the fifth floor at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 25th. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. A Rosary Service will follow visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House and/or to the Oncology Department at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
