Corpus Christi, Texas

Albert Laverne Elding, 95, of Corpus Christi, TX (formerly of Maxwell, IA) died Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at Woolridge Place Nursing Home in Corpus Christi.

Laverne was born on July 6th, 1916 to Orra Elding and Ruth Rosetta (Kelley) Elding. He was united in marriage to Margret Louise Wilson on May 31st, 1943. After being in the Service, he returned home to farm. His hobbies included fishing, repairing everything that needed fixed, watching Chicago Cubs Baseball and picking on his grandchildren.

Laverne is survived by his wife Margret Elding of Corpus Christi, TX; Son David (Nancy) Elding of Maxwell and daughter Deborah Elding of Corpus Christi, TX; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Laverne was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald and his daughter Dorothy.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Maxwell Christian Church in Maxwell with Pastor Tom Lee, officiating. Burial will be in the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Albert Elding Memorial Fund at the Collins Exchange Bank in Collins.
