Obituary

Betty Turney, 84, of Ames, died Thursday, October 27, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Betty Turney was born May 16, 1927 in Des Moines to Cleo and Esther (Schultz) Hood. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945. She married Thomas Turney on July 13, 1945 in Texas and to this union, three daughters were born. She lived in the Phoenix, AZ area from 1955 until returning to Iowa in 2004, following the death of her husband.

Betty is survived by daughters, Connie Jo (James) Archer, and Nancy Fleming; sister, Loretta Barnett; brother, Gary (Lana) Hood; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2003; daughter, Theresa Ann Turney; and sister, Ruth Small.
