Obituary

Ray Huston, 78, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at West Haven Community Home in Boone, Iowa. He went to Heaven to be with his loving wife of 57 years who passed away April 27, 2012.
Raymond Andrew Huston was born July 5, 1933 in Lyle, MN. to Charles and Emma (Jacobsen) Huston. He graduated from Austin High School in 1951 and enlisted in the Navy during the Korean war. In 1955 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Marienau. In 1961 they moved to Ames, IA. where they raised their family of five children whom he was fiercely proud of.

Ray worked as a custodian for Ames High School for 30+ years. He loved fishing, hunting, playing ping-pong, basketball and especially loved people. He had many friends and in his healthier days would help anyone in need. Ray also loved dogs, playing cribbage and was a true fan of Ames High / Iowa State athletics

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children Steve (Cindy) Huston of Ames, IA, Chari (Jay) Buchman of Ames, IA, Jeff (Bev) Huston of Boone, IA, Gary (Stacey) Huston of Ames, IA, and Lisa (Paul) Hagner of Ankeny, IA, a brother Charles Huston of Austin, MN; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy, Michael, Jason, Stephanie, Amy, Taylor, Alexa and Alex; two great grandchildren, Lorenzen and Larissa.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A reception of friends and family will be Sunday June 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service and Military Honors to begin at 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, IA.
