Albert James Heers

BORN: April 18, 1919
DIED: November 27, 2010
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Albert James Heers was born April 18, 1919 to Guy and Ethel (Gilbertson) Heers in Story City. He graduated Story City High School in 1936 and served in the United States Army during WWII. Albert married Veda Buckels on February 14, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After the war, he farmed near Ellsworth and worked as custodian at St. Petri for many years. He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. He was active in the community helping with Scandinavian Days and with the Story City Carousel. Albert enjoyed traveling, airplanes and flying.

Albert is survived by his son Jon Heers of Chaska, Minnesota; his daughter Jan Heers-Porter of Tampa, Florida; and three grandchildren, Marissa Heers, Jasmine Porter, and Najja Porter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three brothers, David Heers, George Heers, and Frank Heers.
