Annabelle Rickerl

BORN: March 14, 1926
DIED: January 2, 2011
LOCATION: Gilbert, Iowa

Annabelle K. Rickerl, 84, of Gilbert died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at home in the loving care of her family. Visitation will be from 5-7 Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Annabelle, daughter of Oluf and Anna (Pedersen) Petersen was born March 14, 1926 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She received her education at Gilbert where she graduated from high school in 1945. She married George W. Rickerl in 1947. The couple had resided in Gilbert since 1962. She worked at JC Penney for many years, retiring in 1988. They spent several years as snowbirds in Donna, Texas.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Steve and Diane Rickerl of Brookings, SD; David and Shirley Rickerl of Boone; Jeff and Cheryl Murken of Story City; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Irving (Sonny) Petersen of Gilbert; and two sisters, Olga Cox of Story City; and Shirley Ann Cutright of Carmichael, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Delbert Petersen; and three sisters, Viola Anderson, Edna Speck and Mary Matters.

She was grateful for a kidney transplant her husband received in June 1989. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 2nd St. SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
