Kathryn "Kathy" Obrecht

DIED: May 30, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Kathryn Jo “Kathy” Obrecht, 48, of Ames, passed away Monday, May 30, at the Israel Family Hospice House from cancer. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 4, from 2-4 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Ames with burial in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Kathy was born July 7, 1962, in Ames, the daughter of Dean and Dianne (Claussen) Obrecht. She graduated from Ames High School in 1980 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1991 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics.

Kathy worked in food service at Camp Hantesa, in Boone, Green Hills Retirement Community and Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames. Kathy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ames where she sang in the choir and participated in many church activities. Her hobbies included Baking, quilting and making stuffed animals. She also enjoyed the outdoors going for walks and biking around Ada Hayden Park. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Kathy is survived by her parents; two sisters, Rene’ Ramsey, of Ames and Kristy (Kim) Peach, of Choteau MT.; two brothers, Randy (Roxanne) Obrecht, Grand River, and P.J. (Cindy) Obrecht of Naples, FL. ;one uncle, Jim (Judirae) Obrecht, Ames; aunts, Linda Claussen, Ames and Mary Obrecht of DeLand, FL. many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
