Della "Angie" (Vogt) Hill
February 23, 1919 - July 9, 2012

Della Angeline "Angie" Vogt Hill, 93, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died on Monday, July 9, 2012 following a short illness. She was born on the family farm outside Ames on February 23, 1919 to Charlie and Della Bates Vogt. After growing up on the farm, Angie graduated from Shipley High School in 1938. She married Bert Hill on September 3, 1938 at the Pleasant Grove Church near Soper's Mill north of Ames.

Angie enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, gardening, baking and watching hummingbirds and was famous for her piecrusts. Though a homemaker most of her life, Angie had worked as a waitress in the 1950's at the Cozy Café in Ames. She was a member of Marion Street Methodist Church in Boone, where she had lived since the mid-1990's.

Angie is survived by her children, Jerry (Sandy) Hill of Colo and Joyace (Dave) Sternquist of Boone; daughter-in-law, Patty Hill of Roland; 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; son, Jim Hill; grandson, Shane Hill and brothers, Forrest and Claude Vogt.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12th from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St., Ames, on Friday, July 13th at 10 am with burial following at Ames Municipal Cemetery. As a show of sympathy, memorial contributions should be directed to the family.
