Avis Alma Clark
BORN: February 18, 1918
DIED: July 3, 2011
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa
Avis Alma Clark was born February 18, 1918 to Emmanuel and Elizabeth (Anderson) Hoversten in Hamilton County, Iowa. Avis graduated from Eldora High School. She married Harold A. Clark on March 22, 1940 in Huxley, Iowa. They lived in Ames for many years where she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. After their retirement, they moved to Eldora, where she was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church and very active in the United Methodist Women. Avis enjoyed bowling, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Avis was also a diehard Yankee’s fan.
Avis passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa at 93 years of age.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry and his wife Martha Clark of Omaha, Nebraska and Richard and his wife Linda Clark of Waukee; one daughter, Marcia and her husband Jeffrey Lantto of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; nine grandchildren: Vicki Clark, Anthony Clark, Kristin Clark Nolan, Sarah Clark, Christopher Clark, Julie Clark, Jeffrey Clark, Anna Lantto, and Andrew Lantto; and three great-grandchildren.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her son Allen Clark; four brothers; and six sisters.
Blessed be the memory of Avis Clark.
A memorial has been established in her name.
