C. William Bill Henry

BORN: December 31, 1915

DIED: August 18, 2011

LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

C. William “Bill” Henry was born December 31, 1915 to William Joseph and Anna Mae (Benedict) Henry in Clarion, Iowa. He married Pauline Hildebrand on August 28, 1941. Bill served in the United States Air Force during WWII, from November of 1942 until February of 1946. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant stationed in Saipan and Guam. After the war, he was as an agent for the Rock Island Railroad for 37 years. Through the years, Bill and Pauline made their home in the towns of Newton, Clarion, and in 2002, Story City. Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

Bill was a member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce, a Shriner, and a friend to all. He enjoyed traveling, art, poetry, and often read novels and poems on the Newton radio. He refurbished antique clocks and loved to play golf. He was a devoted husband and father, proud grandfather, and enjoyed taking his great-grandchildren on rides at the Story City Carousel.
Bill passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 95 years of age, ten days short of his 70th wedding anniversary.

Bill is survived by his wife Pauline of Story City; his daughter Vicki and her husband John Kruger of Story City; three grandchildren, Kris and her husband Devin Fuhrman of Gainesville, Florida, Mike and his wife Heather Kruger of Huxley, Iowa, and Kim and her husband Eric Mueggenberg of Des Moines, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren, McKenna Fuhrman, Kaylin Fuhrman, Braden Kruger and Breanna Kruger with Lily Mueggenberg due in September.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Dorothy E. Henry.

Memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.
