Joan Lane

BORN: June 27, 1931

DIED: November 7, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Joan J. Lane, 80, of Ames, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at home. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Collegiate United Methodist Church.
Joan was born in Sibley, Iowa June 27, 1931 to Paul and Vie (Erickson) Nelson. She married O.J. (John) Lane June 29, 1954 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Joan received her Bachelor of Science. degree in Food and Nutrition from Iowa State University. She taught Home Economics in Oskaloosa; was a cook in the Ames High Cafeteria; and returned to teaching in Anita where she retired in 1982. She was a member of Collegiate United Methodist Church. Joan enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, volunteering at church, and teaching Sunday school with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, John (O.J.); children, Jerry (LeeAnn) Lane of Grinnell, IA and Shreveport, LA; Beth Ann (David) terFehn, of Sigourney, IA; Dona (Butch) Anderson, of Columbus Junction, IA, and Seth Thomas Lane, of Cedar Rapids, IA; two sisters, Imy of Sibley IA, Anita of Scottsdale, AZ, and Robert of Spencer, IA; five grandchildren, Misty, of Shreveport, LA, Brianna, of St. Paul, MN, Karissa, Lorianna, and Ian all of Sigourney; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be designated at a later date.
