Lillian Bleeker

BORN: August 28, 1915

DIED: November 20, 2011

LOCATION: Rock Island, Illinois

Lillian A. Bleeker, age 96, formerly of Ames, died of natural causes Sunday, November 20, 2011. She was a resident at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis, Illinois. Memorial services will be held at Campus Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26 with pre-service viewing from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Bleeker was born in Manville, Illinois and resided in Ames with her husband Hiram Bleeker, who owned Bleeker's Fine Furniture & Carpet until retiring to Texas in 1983.

She and her husband were active members of Campus Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for 40 years, was a Church Camp counselor for 10 years and hosted a Child Evangelism Club in her home for 22 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, who died in 1993; by a son, Lt. Larry Bleeker; a grandson, Landen Bleeker; and a brother, Harold Davis.

Survivors include four children, Gary Bleeker of Indianola, Iowa; Ron Bleeker of Granbury, Texas; LeRay Bleeker of LeClaire, Iowa; and Marlene Clark of Springfield, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren.
