Bernice Goff
BORN: January 29, 1917
DIED: March 6, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa
At the well lived age of 95 years, Bernice Thelma Goff left this life on March 6, 2012. To paraphrase a dear family friend of faith, "There must have been something special about that day."
Bernice was born January 29, 1917, the seventh of eight children and the last living child born to George a. and Hilda M. (Estrem) Van Scoy. In 1935 she graduated from Ames High School. She was baptized, confirmed and was a lifetime member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. She was employed for years at Department of Transportation as a draftsman. Bernice was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. A fall in her home lead to her move to Rolling Green Village, Nevada, where she resided until time of death.
Her children, Sharon (Smith) Krieger of Ames and Dean C. Smith of St. Cloud, Minnesota were born to an early marriage. They were fortunate to have two subsequent stepfathers; Cecil Lounsberry, until his death in 1962 and Myron (Mike) Goff until his death in 2008.
Family members who will collectively and individually in their own way remember Bernice include her children, their spouses, children and grand children, Sharon (Daniel) Krieger, Karen (Joel) Longtin, ( Jake , Nick and Brooke); Dean (Jean) Smith, Todd Smith (Jordan, Ben), Jill(Edwin) Mc Cullogh (Zach, Grant Larson).
A private burial was held to be followed by a family memorial service to be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to Bethesda Lutheran Church or Mary Greeley Medical Center Extraordinary Visions Campaign.
