Dale C. Bauman
BORN: November 10, 1936
DIED: June 9, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa
Dale C. Bauman was born November 10, 1936 to Thomas and Laura (Wubbena) Bauman in Allison, Iowa. Dale grew up on the family farm near Allison where he and his brother farmed as teenagers. He married Rita (Hoodjer) Bauman on November 7, 1959. Following the wedding, the couple moved to Ames to attend Iowa State University and decided to make Ames their home. After graduating from Iowa State in 1964, Dale worked as general manager at Doughboy Seed Company. In 1971 he joined State Bond Companies, which later became Capital Financial Services. He stayed with the same company for over 30 years before retiring in 2006 as the vice president. In addition to his financial work, Dale and Rita owned and operated Batman Sayers Abstract Company in Ames and Nevada, retiring in 2006.
A proud member of the Ames community, Dale was always willing to give of his time and talents to anyone in need. A man of strong faith, he was an active member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church family where he served on many boards and worked on numerous church projects. Dale also helped establish the Ames High Booster Club. He and Rita were named Boosters of the Year by Ames High in 1990. In his free time Dale enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and the neighbors. Dale also enjoyed following the Iowa State wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics and women's basketball teams. Above all else, his most favorite thing to do was spending time with family and friends, especially playing with his grandchildren and watching them in their many activities.
Dale passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 75 years of age.
Dale is survived by his wife Rita of 52 years; son Chad (Melissa) of Nevada, IA; daughter Cari Bauman of Chicago, Ill; three grandchildren, Kyle, Clay and Will; and many other friends and family.
Dale was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Harlan and Duane; and infant son Kyle.
Memorials may be designated to the CJ Foundation for SIDS research in honor of Kyle Thomas; or the American Cancer Society.
