Marjorie Wilma Johnson

BORN: March 31, 1916

DIED: June 28, 2012

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Marjorie W. Johnson was born on March 31, 1916 in Story City, the daughter of Weir and Maybelle Thorson. She married Lawrence Johnson on February 14, 1937.

Marjorie helped with the farming for many years and also worked at the Animal Disease Lab. After her retirement in 1979, Marjorie and Lawrence enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. In 1990 they moved to the Northcrest Retirement Community.

Marjorie died Thursday, June 28 2012, at the Northcrest Health Care Center in Ames at 96 years of age.

She is survived by sons, Leroy (Priscilla) Johnson of Story City, and Stanley Johnson of Surprise, Arizona; two grandchildren, Deb (Gary) Long of Ames, and Steve (Tami) Johnson of Westminster, Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Long, Ryan Long, Joshua Johnson, and Tyler Johnson; one brother, Vernon Thorson of Loveland, Colorado; and one sister, Judy Mahlstedt of Tempe, Arizona.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother Joel Thorson; and one daughter-in-law Toni Johnson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the compassionate care givers at the Northcrest Health Care Center.

Memorials may be designated to Northcrest Retirement Community, Bethesda Lutheran Church or Mary Greeley Homeward Hospice.
