An unknown man was found dead near Centerville in Boone county, April 9th with a bullet hole through his head and a pistol by his side with one chamber empty. It is considered a clear case of suicide. No clue as to who the man was.

The man supposedly to have committed suicide in Boone county, whose body was found about three weeks ago, turns out to have been murdered. He proves to have been a resident of Laporte, Blackhawk county, named Geo Rich, and to have left there February last with some $500 in money, since which time he had never been heard of. Besides the pistol shot through the head, which doctors think could hardly have been made by himself, his skull was found cracked, and other evidences developed to show that the death was not the cause of his own hands, but in all probability was deliberate murder.
