From Nevada Representative September 8, 1880

Iowa Center Items.

A gloom has been cast over out village by the death of Mrs. Esther A. Bowen, the estimable wife of Mr. A. Bowen, who died on Sunday at 2 P. M. and was buried Monday at 4 P. M., funeral services by the Rev. J. A. Jefferson, at the M. E. church, burial at Woodland Cemetery. The large attendance of weeping relatives and sympathizing friends, at the funeral, attested the love and esteem felt for the deceased. Her illness was protracted, and the greater part of the time she was an intense sufferer, but was ever patient, and expressed no sign of discontent, unless it was at time to wish that the Master's will be for her to depart and be with Christ. As her end approached, she often expressed her ardent wish that the time of her departure would hasten. She leaves a companion and three interesting daughters to mourn her departure, with the certain assurance that their loss is her savior's gain.

ST. CRISPIN.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Hester A. Fry was married firstly to George D. Stoneking on 14 August 1856 in Story County, Iowa. She married secondly to Aaron T. Bowen on 19 April 1860 in Story County.
