AGED WOMAN DIED HERE ON SUNDAY

GRANDMA PINES PASSED AWAY SUNDAY--FUNERAL TUESDAY AFTERNOON

The funeral services for Amanda Pines, 81, who died at her home in Nevada, March 22 will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Seventh-day Adventist church, Elder C. F. McVagh in charge, assisted by Eld. E. L. Sheldon. Interment will be made in the Nevada cemeter beside her husband.

Amanda Jane Pines was born Amanda Jane Haynes on November 3, 1849, near Mt. Carroll, Carroll County, Illinois, and passed away in Nevada, having reached the age of 81 years, 4 months and 19 days. She came with her father's family to Iowa in the early '60's and settled in Boone county. In 1868 she was married to John W. Pines, of Boone, Iowa, who preceded her in death nearth six years ago. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom are living: They are Mrs. Dora B. McKibben, of Nevada, with whom Mrs. Pines made her home since her husband's death, Mrs. A. May Stone of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Ida G. Stenberg of Boulder, Colo, and Dr. John A. Pines of Orlanda, Fla. Five grandchildren also survive her. Besides these she leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha S. Bovey, of this city, and many other relatives and friends in this vicinity and elsewhere.

Mrs. Pines was a friend of the poor and needy, and was ever raedy to minister to the sick. Since her husband's death she has been gradually failing in health.

In 1886 she was converted and united with the Seventh-day Adventist church, of which she was a faithful member to the last. She was strong in faith and died with a bright hope.

Mrs. Pines has been a resident of Nevada for the last twenty years, coming here with her husband in 1911.
