On Monday last, Mr. and Mrs. John Schermerhorn were called upon to lay away their infant son, which had been given them to bless and cheer their earthly existence, but was permitted to remains with them only a day. The old must die, the middle aged may, but why the young and innocent should be required to yield up their lives is one of the inscrutable mysteries of providence which is hard of explaining.
