THE DEADLY PARSNIP.
Three Children Poisoned by Eating Wild Parsnips.
Tuesday evening the three children of a Mr. Thomas, a Norwegian living on Ole K. Hill's farm, just north of Sopers Mill, were poisoned by eating the roots of the wild parsnip. Two of the children--little girls--aged six and five years, died in a very short time after eating the poisonous vegetable. A correspondent writes us that the children had eaten a hearty dinner and gone out to play. In less than half an hour afterward the little boy came into the house suffering agony but sufficiently conscious to inform his mother somewhat about his own and sisters' situation and the probable cause of it. Immediate search was made for the absent ones. The oldest one of the three was found dead in a fence corner; the next younger a short distance from her in dying condition. They were taken to the house where the second child breathed her last a few minutes afterward. The little boy, youngest of the three, will probably recover, though he is dangerously ill, and under the treatment of Drs. Allen and Kerby.--Intelligencer.
