From Nevada Representative March 21, 1877

That malignant disease, diptheria, has been very prevalent and quite fatal among the children in Howard township. A little girl about 3 years old has died out of the family of Chris Gohring; one about 5 years old out of the family of Ole J. Oleson; and one about 8 years old out of the family of E. C. Wilkinson.
