Col. John A. Garrett, one of the bravest and best of Iowa soldiers, died at his home in Newton, Jasper county, on the 16th inst. He was Colonel of the Tenth Iowa Infantry, and served with distinction throughout the War. He was also a soldier in the War with Mexico.
