From Nevada Representative April 26, 1876
The death of Mr. E. W. Rutherford, of this city, about 10 days since, was one of the most sudden that has happened in this community for a long time. He was only sick about four days; his disease, the black erysipelas. It first commenced in a little finger, then went to his body, from the effects of which he died in a very short time. Mr. Rutherford was a man of strict honor and integrity, a man who was honest in his dealings with his fellow man, and in all his acts did what he believed to be right. His loss will be severely felt by a large and quite young family, and also by his numerous friends.
