From Story County Watchman September 27, 1906

Saturday evening at 6 o'clock at his home in Clinton, occured the death of George Howland, a well known Northwestern freight conductor and one of the oldest men in years of service on the road.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to WPA Records, George Howland was born in 1867 and died 22 May 1906 and is buried in the West Linwood Cemetery, Boone, Boone County, Iowa. I believe the correct death date is 22 September 1906 as that was the previous Saturday as indicated.
