Mrs. Elizabeth Mullen Gamble died at her home in Maxwell Saturday evening January 6th. Mrs. Gamble was born in Carroll county, Indiana, June 8, 1835 and at the time of her death was seventy years six months and twenty-eight days old. She was married to John D. Gamble in 1852 and was the mother of thirteen children all of whom are living except one who died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Gamble came to Story County in 1856 and settled on a farm where they remained until 1902 when they moved to Maxwell. Death claimed the husband and father in June 1903 leaving her largely to the care of her children whom she loved so well. The funeral service was held at the C. P. church Tuesday and the remains laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. Van Nice of Waukon and was attended by a host of friends and relatives.
