While sitting talking with is wife Judge John W. Near of Madrid one of the best known attorneys in central Iowa dropped dead, the cause of death being heart failure. Mr. Near's death comes as a great surprise to his many friends throughout Boone County where he was so well known and where he has practiced for the past twenty-one years.
