Mrs. James Gregory died Saturday of dropsy and the last rites were held on Sunday afternoon from the Catholic church.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Nellie E. Edwards maried James Gregory on 5 March 1877 in Marion County, Indiana. This was apparently her second marriage as in the 1900 Washington Township, Story County, Iowa census, her father, Albert Schmaltzer, is living with the family. Born in France, she states she had immigrated in 1860 and married firstly in 1869. I believe she is enumerated as "Mary" Edwards in the 1870 Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana census, wife of Edward Edwards, an auctioneer born in England 10 years her senior. According to WPA Records, Nellie E. Gregory is buried in the Ames Cemetery, Ames, Story County, Iowa. She was born 19 July 1850 and died 2 September 1905.
As a side note, Albert Schmaltzer who was also born in France ca. 1821, reports he immigrated in 1888. He died in Washington Township, Story County, Iowa on 13 March 1901 and is also buried in the Ames Cemetery.
