From Story County Watchman December 23, 1904
This week word was received from Washington, D. C. that J. M. Elmore had just died in that city. He was holding an appointment in the House of Representatives hailing from this county. He was one of the members of the G. A. R. in this city and the first report was that the remains would be returned to this place for interment. Later is that they will be interred there instead. He leaves a family here to look forward to a meeting in that future and where parties are no more. He was quite aged.
