From Story County Watchman August 26, 1904
On Thursday afternooon of last week while reading a paper upon the porch of a Los Angelos, Cal. hotel, L. B. Harndon was seen to drop the paper and fall to the floor. He was at once picked up but the vital spark had fled and his young life was extinct. The remains were shipped to Ames, arriving there Wednesday of this week and were taken to the home in Milford township and interred in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery to await the last call. He was well and favorabley known to our people all of whom extend the family the consolation that is needed for the occasion. He was recently married to a Miss Dodds of Franklin whom he leaves to mourn his loss. Mr. Harndon has spent the past two years in the west traveling extensively and engaging in various enterprises. He had just written his parents that he would be home in two weeks, and the blow to them in indeed a heavy one.
In the same paper:
AMES DEPARTMENT OF THE WATCHMAN
