R. R. Thompson was born near Springfield, Ohio, in 1838 and died at Maxwell, Iowa, June 24, 1904, being about sixty-seven years old at the time of his death. He came to Scott county, Iowa, at the age of eighteen and on January 1, 1857, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Glass and in 1861 the family moved to Indian Creek township, Story county, where he has since resided.
