The death of Joseph Higbee came as a great shock to the people of Maxwell and especially to his intimate friends, as he had been ill only a short time and it was not realized that the end was so near.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to death records, Joseph Higbee was born in New Jersey and died 6 March 1904 in Maxwell, Story County, Iowa. He was buried in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, Linn County, Iowa.
