Obituary.

Gracie D. Smith was born near Colo, Iowa, June 29, 1883. She was married to Roy Brouhard Feb. 13, 1901. When about twelve years old she gave her heart to God and united with the church at the United Brethren in Christ, at Dalton, of which she was a faithful member. She died at her home in New Albany township February 2, 1904, being 21 years, 7 monts and 3 days old. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, two little children--Verl, aged 9 months and Rosalynn, aged two years; a father and mother, one sister and one brother, and many friends. Deceased was a member of the Order of Royal Neighbors, who had charge of the funeral service, which were held in the M. E. church at Colo Thursday, at 1:00 o'clock p. m. The sermon was preached by her pastor, Rev. C. E. Burton of Collins, the text being the 6th verse, 16th chapter of John, after which the body was laid to rest in the Colo cemetery to await the Resurrection of the last day. She passed away after an illness of only two days, in the triumph of living faith, saying she was prepared and ready to go.
