A telegram was received at the Margaret Murphey home on Sunday noon announcing the death of their son and brother, Charles, at Encampment, Wyoming, at 7:30 the same morning. His death was caused from quick consumption, which followed a severe attack of pneumonia. His sister, Miss Rose Murphey, only a few days before had returned from his bedside and although his recovery was thought almost impossible the end was not expected so soon.

Charles Palmer Murphey was born in this city, Feburary 12, 1867, and died at Encampment, Wyoming, on November 24, 1903, being thirty-six years, nine months and seventeen days old. His boyhood days until he was about twenty years of age were spent in this city and healways retained the warm friendship of the many friends he made then, but of late years he has visited only a few times. H was in Nevraska for several years and the past two year he has been located at Encampment, Wyoming, which is a new mining camp situated in the southern part of the state in the Sierra Madre Mountains, the nearest station being Walcott, a town on the Union Pacific, about fifty-five miles distance.

On account of the distance to a railroad it was thought impossible to bring his remains to this city for burial, so the funeral services were held and the interment made there at Encampment. He leaves to mourn his loss a mother who could never be more kind and loving and five sisters who worshipped him as sisters can only a brother, besides many admiring friends.

It seems strange that eighteen years ago on the same day and at the same hour his father, Henry F. Murphey, one of the most respected citizens of this community and Sheriff of Story county for eight years passed away.
