From Story County Watchman March 27, 1903

DIED At the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Spurling their son Arthur aged 19 years and 11 months. Arthur was born April 16, 1903, he had been an invalid for 17 years and after a short illness of two days passed away Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock. Arthur will be greathly missed by his parents, brother's and sisters and his friends.

The funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Horton of McCallsburg to a large crowd and remains were laid to rest in the McCallsburg cemetary to a wait the day when we hall meet to part no more. He leaves to mourn his death four brothers and three sisters, a father and mother. All were present at the funeral except his brother Charley of Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Spurling thank their friends and neighbors for the kindness and respect showing them during the sickness and death of their son Arthur.
