Death of Elwood Furnass.

Wednesday morning our people were astounded by the report that Elwood Furnass had just died in the residence of his sister, Mrs. Dillin, in this city. He had been here several days in attendance upon a referee case before County Clerk Soper, and the case was postponed Monday because of his illness. He has been one of the prominent citizens of this county for many years and stood high in the esteem and consideration of all. His age was about 62 years. The trouble was at 2 p. m. acute stomach trouble. The funeral will take place today from the Presbyterian church, under the direction os the Masonic Lodge of this city of which order he was a member, and at his special request. He leaves a wife but no children to await the coming in the better land.

As noted would be the case the funeral of Elwood Furnass came off from the Presbyterian church on Friday last under the direction of Rev. Sanford assisted by Rev. Henderson, the Masonic order turning out and attending the same and giving the ritual work as outlined under J. F. Gillespie, W. M. The day was a bad one yet a large number were in attendance.
