From Story County Watchman November 14, 1902
Wednesday morning Samuel McCain of Zearing was found dead in his bed by Mr. Reese with home he was stopping. He was assistant mail carrier on one of the rural mail routes out of Zearing. He had been ill from catarrh and asthma, and this is supposed to be a result of such trouble.
