Slater News: ...Word was received at Slater the later part of the week, announcing the death of John Leland, in Boone at 3 o'clock Friday morning after a protracted illness....

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: WPA Records show John Leland was born 17 August 1862 and died 14 February 1902. Death records show John Leland died 13 February 1902 in Boone County, Iowa.
