OBITUARY.
Died, on Monday, at her home in Nevada, Mrs. Alice Martin, wife of J. F. Martin.
Mrs. Martin was formerly Miss Alice Slifer and was born in Mt. Carroll, Ill., in November, 1861, but passed most of ther early life in Grundy Center, Iowa. She was married in June 1883 to J. F. Martin. She leaves one son, Lester, besides her husband, stepson, and other family relatives, Mrs. Ed. Statler a sister, being the only one of these residing in this city.
Mrs. Martins death was caused by acute appendicitis and came with shocking suddenness, as she was attacked by her illness on Friday, an operation on Sunday found her case hopeless, and she lived only until Monday evening.
The funeral was of a private nature and was held Wednesday afternoon at the residence, Rev. Sanford giving the reading and prayer and Rev. Shrader the closing remarks. The singing was by the male quartet.
The public services were held at the cemetery where the Order of the Eastern Star conducted their burial services. The members of the Ames Chapter to which Mrs. Martin formerly belonged where in attendance as were several members from the Collins and Colo Chapters.
Among the relatives in attendance were Mrs. Slifer, Lester Martin, Clayton Martin and Mrs. Isora Miller.
