Maxwell Tribune: ....Mrs. Grant Whitaker died very suddenly at her home north of here last Sunday....

From Story County Watchman November 22, 1901

IOWA CENTER.

Julia Ann, wife of Grant Whitaker, died at her home near Iowa Center November 10, aged 33 years, 7 months and 5 days. She leaves two girls and three boys and a husband to mourn her departure. Funeral services where conducted by her pastor, V. Urbino, in the Iowa Center church in the presence of a large congregation of people, November 12, at 1:30 p. m. She was a loving mother and a devoted companion. She seemed to live entirely for her family, church and religion. She was a faithful Christian, always doing her duty with pleasure. Her voice was heard in prayer, praise and testimony, always seeking to help some one in the way of a Christian life. No one could be missed more than she is in the home, in the church, in the community. She hath done what she could, can be truly said of her. She died in the triumph of faith. "Glory to God, I am ready to go," was her dying shout. May many who attended the funeral eventually have as good an ending.
