Story City Messenger: ....Mrs. Torp, mother of Mr. A. N. Torp of our town, died at her son's home last Friday. She came here a couple of weeks ago to visit her son, and planned also to visit relatives in Kansas City but death cut her visits short. Story City Herald: ....Anna Carolina Torp, mother of A. N. Torp of this city, died at the home of her son on Friday morning of last week. She was quite an aged lady; having reached her eighty first birthday. She came here about six weeks ago, intending at the time to visit here for a month and then make a more extended visit in Kansas City. She was sick for only three days when the death angel came to her rescue. The cause of her death is not exactly known as she had enjoyed the best of health up to the time of her illness. On Saturday she was taken to her home in Woolstock, where the funeral was held on Monday afternoon, from the Methodist church.
