Story City Messenger: ....Katie Dickinson died last Friday evening at 7 o'clock. She was suffering from appendicitis, and the doctors decided an operation, which was performed Friday, but it was found that the ravages of the disease had gone so far that there was scarcely any hope for recovery. She began to fail immediately after the operation and died the same evening. She was fifteen years old last January, and was now of great aid to her parents in helping them with the work at home.
