From Story County Watchman March 22, 1901

DIED--On Mondya evening after alingering illness from a complicaton of diseases originating with the bladder, at his home in this city James Dillin, aged 62 yearst next May. He was born in Jefferson county, New York where he lived many yers going later to Colorado where he was at the time of the breaking out of th rebellion, and shere he joined in Sept., 1861, Co. M. 2st. Colorado cavalry serving something over three years there. Afterwards he moved to Richland and later to Nevada where he has since resided. In January 1884, he became a member of the Jason D. Ferguson Post of which order he held various offices including commander.

On the 31st of January, 1867 he was married to Miss Sarah Furness at Letts, Iowa, and in 1869 moved to Story county settling on a farm where he resided until he moved to Nevada where he has since made his home. He had two children E. O. Dillin of McCallsburg, and Mrs. Viola McCord of this city who with his wife survives to mourn his loss.

The funeral will take place this afternoon commencing at two o'clock going from the residence to the Presbyterian church thence to the Cemetery. The sermon will be delivered by Rev. Sanford assisted by Rev. Shrader. The Grand Army Post will be present under the leadership of the Commander, A. Donahugh.

Nevada, March 28.--James Dillin, one of the oldest citizens of Nevada and a veteran of the civil war, died at his residence in this city last night at 10 o'clock. Mr. Dillin was about 60 years of age and had been very ill for some time. He spent three months at the sanitarium at Battle Creek, Mich., but same home little improved. He was being treated for stomach trouble.--Des Moines Leader.
