From Story County Watchman February 15, 1901

As noted by our Colo correspondent last week would probably be the fact Mr. Michael Reed died on the 8th at his home in Colo. He was a native of Scotland coming to this country at an early age and engaged in farming settleing near Colo many years ago. His age was 67 years. He leaves a wife, son and daughter to mourn over his departure to the better land.
