Slater News: Michael Ragan died at his home in Slater last Saturday morning after a brief illness lasting only three days. He was born near Cork, Ireland, Sept. 28, 1817, and came to New York in '48, from there he went to Jackson, Ohio, three years later, where he was married to charity Hogbin in February '55. From there he moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a year later to Shellsburg, where he lived until '74 when he moved unto a farm south of town. He has resided in Slater since 1892....
