From Story County Watchman September 7, 1900

Story City Messenger: ....Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Sauer's grieve over the death of their youngest child. Little Doris is was sick quite a while, and last Thursday morning received the relief from pain and woes. The funeral was held at the home at two o'clock Friday afternoon and then the remains were taken to Zearing on the 3 o'clock Central train and interred in the Zearing cemetery.
